Soul Food Project

Soul Food Project

Soul Food is an initiative started in 2007 by Queens Hillel in partnership with Sodexho. The program consists of student and community volunteers who deliver surplus food from two of the Queens cafeterias to shelters in the Kingston community seven days a week. KJC supports this program by supplying volunteer drivers who with the help of 2-3 students pick up and deliver the food to the shelters. The commitment required is about 1 hour. Students are generally picked up outside the JDUC building on Union street, at 7:30pm or 8:30pm you then go to the designated cafeteria pick to up the food and deliver it to your assigned shelter for that day, pick up and return any empty containers to the cafeteria and drop students back at JDUC.
